Dear brothers, dear neighbors — dear and beloved Ukrainian people! Of course, I cannot speak in the name of the entire Hungarian nation, nor is that my purpose; what is indeed among my purposes, however, is that the Russian occupiers should leave Ukraine, that you may all live in peace, and that Moscow should be held accountable and pay compensation to Ukraine.

By now, few observers doubt that Hungary under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán functions as Russia’s ally inside the European Union. The most recent evidence: in May 2025, Budapest filed a lawsuit against the EU, seeking to block Ukraine from receiving profits generated from frozen Russian assets.

Soon the news will reach you too: Viktor Orbán, the Prime Minister of Hungary, has once again used his veto, explaining to his domestic supporters that – I quote – *“the Hungarian people decided in a referendum that we do not want to live together with the Ukrainians, in any kind of integration, neither in the European Union nor in NATO.”*

Another Russian propaganda video is being circulated by media outlets tied to the Hungarian government—this time via the “Harcosok Klubja” (Warriors’ Club), a propaganda channel associated with Viktor Orbán’s circle.

I know—it’s a bold claim. At first glance, the title might seem like cheap clickbait. But it isn’t. Whether we like it or not, Hungary—more precisely, its government—has entered the hybrid war Russia is waging against Europe.
