Ukraine struck the refineries in Omsk and Ukhta with long-range drones

Ukrainian drones attacked the refineries in Omsk and Ukhta, Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on October 9, saying that An-196 RS-type devices were deployed against Ukhta, located about 1,900 kilometers from Ukraine's state border, while the previous day's strike on Omsk was carried out using FP-6 drones, presented as a modified version of the FP-1. According to the Ukrainian president's statement, the An-196 RS is capable of a flight range of approximately 2,500 kilometers.

The fire at the refinery in Ukhta, operating in Russia's Komi Republic, was also documented by eyewitness footage, and the independent Russian outlet ASTRA, using geolocation of the videos, determined that the smoke indeed rose from the territory of Lukoil's facility; according to a report by the Kyiv Independent, reports also came from the area about explosions and the appearance of drones. The two strikes are a continuation of Ukrainian operations against Russian oil-processing infrastructure, which are reaching increasingly distant facilities; after the latest strikes, no detailed summary has yet been published on the extent of the production shortfall or the expected duration of repairs.
