Ukraine's energy grid, damaged in Russian attacks, is being repaired around the clock

Russian attacks have caused significant damage to Ukraine's electricity grid and power transmission facilities, and restoration work is underway around the clock, Volodymyr Zelensky said on October 9, following talks with military and government officials. The president thanked the repair crews, energy companies and regional authorities for quickly organizing the work, while noting that the country has updated its requests for the necessary energy equipment and air defense support.

According to the statement, Ukraine is preparing further talks with its foreign partners on these requests, as it needs help not only to restore the damaged grid but also to protect it against further attacks. With winter approaching, the consequences of the Russian strikes are placing an increasingly severe burden on the power supply, which is already being maintained only through extraordinary and scheduled restrictions.
