Ukrainian attack hits Russian missile industry facilities
According to the Ukrainian General Staff, during the night of October 9, three facilities in Russia were attacked that are linked to missile launch systems, missile fuel and explosives production. Targets included the Barmin missile launch systems research institute near Dalneye Konstantinovo-5 in Nizhny Novgorod Region, the experimental plant in Redkino, Tver Region, and the center near Surovatikha that deals with the disposal of intercontinental ballistic missiles.
The Ukrainian statement explained the importance of the Redkino plant by noting that it produces the components needed for the Decilin-M fuel used in Kh-55 and Kh-101 cruise missiles, making the facility part of the supply chain for the Russian missile arsenal regularly used against Ukraine. Reports of explosions, flashes and smoke came from the area overnight, and the regional governor acknowledged a fire at one of the plants. The General Staff said the aim of the attacks was to weaken Russian military-industrial capacity, particularly the production of missile fuel and explosives, though a detailed assessment of the damage at the individual facilities is still ongoing.
