Design unveiled for aerial platform carrying eight interceptor drones

German-Ukrainian company Quantum WIY Industries has unveiled the concept of a carrier platform capable of launching eight SPYS interceptor drones from the air, with the smaller drones intended to be mounted in groups of four under the carrier's two wings. According to a report by the Ukrainian news agency UNN, the design of the aircraft presented resembles the Ukrainian FP-1/FP-2 drones, although the company did not clearly specify the planned carrier type.

SPYS, developed to destroy aerial targets, has published specifications including a range of around 15 kilometers, a 300-gram warhead and a maximum flight altitude of up to four thousand meters, while the top speed of the presented variant was given as 480 kilometers per hour.

Radar guidance directs the interceptor into the target's vicinity, with a separate homing system taking over during the final phase of the attack. The carrier platform is so far only a development concept, while the German-Ukrainian cooperation already extends to larger-scale production of the interceptor drones as well. According to an October 4 statement from Quantum Systems, Germany is financing the production of tens of thousands of interceptor drones in Ukraine as part of the 2026-2027 winter support package, and the company has signed an agreement with Fire Point, the manufacturer of the FP drones, on the joint development of new technologies against aerial threats.
