Trautmann Balázs korábban katonai újságíróként dolgozott a Honvédelmi Minisztérium kötelékében, így belülről ismerte a honvédelmi rendszer működését, a katonai logikát és a háborús konfliktusok emberi oldalát. Az orosz–ukrán háború kitörése után felismerte, hogy a fronton szolgáló magyar származású katonák jelentős része ellátási hiányokkal küzd.
Civil kezdeményezésként négyen hozták létre a Kárpátaljai Sárkányellátó Alapítvány, amelyből rövid idő alatt országos segítőhálózat épült ki. Az alapítvány adománygyűjtéseket, logisztikai szervezéssel és eszközbeszerzésekkel segíti a magyar származású, ukrán katonákat, egészégügyi ellátáshoz szükséges eszközöket vásárol, és szállít a háborús térségben szolgáló katonák számára.
Intézményi háttérből érkező emberként saját emberi felelősségvállalásból kezdett működni ott, ahol hiányt érzett. Személyes ügye lett a háború emberi oldala és azoknak az embereknek a támogatása, akik a háború árnyékában maradtak, a háborúban tartós fogyatékosságot szerzett katonák rehabilitációs lehetősége.
