Nicușor Dan signs Siegfried Mureșan's nomination for prime minister
Romanian President Nicușor Dan signed the decree on Monday officially nominating Siegfried Mureșan for prime minister. The president had already announced his decision on Thursday; the decree issued now has also been published in the Official Gazette.
The PNL's member of the European Parliament has ten days from the nomination to seek a vote of confidence from parliament for his government program and list of ministers. Mureșan is backed by the PNL, the USR and the UDMR, but these three parties do not have the majority needed to install a government on their own. The decree has thus made the nomination official; the harder part—gathering the parliamentary votes—still lies ahead.
